About

The sun is shining and students are out of school enjoying summer activities like swimming, playgrounds and picnics. Thompson Education Foundation (TEF) staff and volunteers enjoy the warm weather too, but even as we celebrate the end of one school year, we launch directly into planning for the next! The Help Kids Succeed school supply program is the primary focus of TEF’s work each summer – raising funds and ordering items, all leading up to volunteers gathering to stuff backpacks full of the necessary school supplies to help economically challenged students be successful from the moment they enter the classroom.

Without the Help Kids Succeed school supply program, 1 of every 10 Thompson School District students would lack the basic tools to successfully engage in their classrooms. Through Help Kids Succeed, economically challenged students have an immediate avenue of response to classroom curriculum work from the first day of school, inspiring confidence and success throughout the school year. The backpacks are available to any student with an expressed need, providing the opportunity to both students receiving free/reduced lunch and those whose families may have fallen on recent hard times.

Working with purchasing partners, TEF can furnish a supply filled backpack to a student for as little as $20, a significant savings off the retail price. A gift of $20 can bring a smile to a student’s face. A gift of $100 can bring that smile to five faces. You can Help Kids Succeed!
